On this page you can read about our different research methods, and how we apply them to our research.

Numerical Modeling

All of our research incorporates Numerical Modeling in some form or another. Most of our code is written in Matlab, but we are beginning to branch into Python and RStudio. You can find our code online here.

Field Work

What are the fieldwork methods we use?

Remote Sensing

Some of our most recent work on Barrier Islands and Mangroves uses remote sensing techniques-primarily through Google Earth Engine. We look at how coastal features (usually vegetation) change with time.

Part of our remote sensing efforts include UAV’s aka drones. We are still working on prepping for our initial flights, but we hope to use our drone fleet to gather more data on coastal features in New Jersey. Jesse Kolodin ran a course in 2020 on using drones and we are fortunate to have his expertise in this endeavor.
